today i spoke with prof. gaspar, who's a guru of omnidirectional vision.
he fist clarified that the correct name for what i did is "unwarping" and then pointed out that if i projected stuff the other way around (perspective rays to the image plan through the fisheye model) i could avoid the interpolation step.

by the way the lens we used to acquire the image is a sunex dsl215.
it would be nice to use them for taking artistic photos, wouldn't it?
